Saving the Coast: One Seedling at a Time
Last Thursday and Friday, I ventured down to Grand Isle with a group of 17- 6th graders to plant bitter panicum that we have been growing in our garden all year long.
Bitter panicum is a beach grass that is valuable to protecting our sandy coastline. As a science educator, it does make me feel very good to witness my students take such an active role in protecting our coastline. What a great experience for the students! Good morning, Ron! I'm so glad you are instilling in your students the value of protecting our precious coastline. You are such a great teacher and mentor for them! Hopefully, planting the bitter panicum will help preserve our sandy coastline in Grand Isle! Have a great day! xoxo
