When We Were Kids...
I recently stumbled across this on facebook. Isn't it true? A box of 64 crayons with a sharpener was like winning the lottery as a kid.
Today's youth will never understand the simple things that made us happy and appreciative.
What made YOU most happy as a kid?
Crayons, y'all!
What made me happy was a new Little Golden Book. I recently found out there is an app for iPhone, iPad for Little Golden Books
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Ron! You are so right about this generation not knowing the simple things that made us happy. Every Christmas, "Santa" brought us a board game, and that made us happy on rainy days when we couldn't go outside and play. :) Have a great day! xoxo P.S. I just might have to buy some crayons and a coloring book today!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes you are so right! I wanted that big box of crayons with every ounce of my being. The other day I was somewhere and I commented that it smelled like crayons. The other lady there smiled and said, "It does!" Guess you have to be a little older to get that.
ReplyDeleteNew crayons were the best and a new dress for the first day of school!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scent, just edging out play-dough.
ReplyDeleteYes! New crayons were the best, especially accompanied by a new coloring book. I'd have to say however I lived for the day my grandparents would bring me a new set of paper dolls!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so great!!! And I love reading other comments too. Board games are big with us. We try to make a game night once a week and limit iPAD time - too crazy. My favorite was when Dad went to get gas, he would take me and we would get a glass bottled coke, peanuts and sit on our porch and have a snack. I didn't get to have soft drinks much and if we did we had the cans (remember new coke???? yuck).
ReplyDeleteYes...I loved pulling out my favorite crayon color combinations. My sweet mom gave us each a big box every Christmas. I also loved climbing trees and hiking in the mountains where the air was cooler than where we lived in California.
ReplyDeleteAh ha- how true! I was always so impressed with the big box of 64! We had a lot of coloring books and would get together with a couple of friends and color together. Truly good times!
ReplyDeleteSo true, Ron! We grew up in such a kinder, gentler world. I honestly feel sorry for the youth of today...and I worry that they're going to have "carpal neck" from always looking down! :) I absolutely loved having new crayons and a new coloring book! I loved paper dolls, playing jacks and being outside until dark.

I loved coloring and all the crayons. Children now days are missing out on so much today.
ReplyDeleteI purchased a adult coloring book and I love doing that. The pictures are good enough to frame.
Enjoy the rest of the week Ron.

Me too! I'll never forget in Kindergarten when I saw my first 64 count box! I was in love then and I love them now.
