7th grade GALA Project

Besides some science education, my 7th grade students have been working on their annual St. Paul's Episcopal School GALA projects. Each classes' GALA project must be handmade. Our creations also go with this year's GALA theme, Southern Charm. You must watch the video at the end. Watch it and look out for me!

This year while viewing pinterest, I saw several bottle cap projects. I am not overly "artsy fartsy", but I thought this idea could be a good and easy one to facilitate. When you have 25 different hands and personalities in a project, you never know what you might end up with.

I had the parents send in beer caps in colors of red and green. My room was soon overflowing in beer caps. It is New Orleans after all. We drink. We like to have a great time.

I selected a crawfish and an alligator. Both are indigenous to South Louisiana and would look great hanging in someone's beach house or pool house.

A coat of green paint and red paint were sprayed to each cut-out.With some liquid nails, faux gemstones to add some bling, and Mardi Gras beads, the students created two beautiful works of art. I hope our parents are out bidding each other at the GALA.

This year's GALA theme is Southern Charm. Check out this video featuring our faculty:
