I am having a good time decorating the pans of the vintage scale on the mantle, but I have still not found a design that I like for a while.
I need your help.
Below, you will notice three different designs I tried lately using a preserved boxwood sphere, wasp nests, and a “frog” cloche filled with small sea fan pieces.
Let me know which one your prefer. I appreciate your help. I am also open to suggestions. Please comment below.
ONE. {frog cloche/boxwood sphere}
TWO. {frog cloche/wasp nests}
THREE. {boxwood sphere/wasp nests}
Vintage Scale, y’all!
Number 3....more contrast.
ReplyDeleteHi Ron,
ReplyDeleteI love number #3. Love the sphere and the nest for color and texture. Love that scale. So awesome!!!!

Good evening, Ron! Definitely one with the boxwood sphere--hmm, I like both #1 and #3, but I think I'm with Nancy on this one--#3 gets my vote! Have a great evening! Cheers! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI vote #1
ReplyDeleteRon post a picture withe scale empty please! Want to see it maybe unbalanced with may just wasp nest in one side try both birds on one side one higher then they other to really change it up
ReplyDeleteHey Ron and Jeff;
ReplyDeleteThe most balanced picture of your Beautiful Antique Scale is the photo with the wasp nests, and the cloche filled with small sea fan pieces.
Please note how the Mirror looks larger and the Cranes really stand out.
I do some Interior Decorating sometimes, so I know what I am doing!!!
Take Care :-)
Def number 3! The "shinyness" of the frog cloche with the birds and the mirror is just too glarey IMHO. 1)The spheres together are too similar in size. 2) The coral fans and wasp nest are too neutral in color 3) good mix of texture, color and shape... minus glare. Nice work! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI was immediately drawn to number two. Although the scale and shape of the objects differ they share a common colour theme and structure (in the intricacy of the nests and seafans) which provides a pleasing unity. Their subtlety also allows the flanking cranes to shine. For me, number one is too symmetrical and bulky and number three lacks balance and cohesion. Have fun playing :)
ReplyDelete#2....
ReplyDeletetry a good vs evil theme…
ReplyDelete#3!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ron, #2 is my favorite because you can see more of the wonderful scale. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
I'd go with the first one, as the wasp's nest would creep me out. I'd be seeing wasps coming out of the nest.
ReplyDeleteI like simplicity,and the color and the clean look of the scale itself. It may look better with nothing on it? Although I'd have to see it with the rest of the items around it on the mantle to say for sure. (Yikes!.Help!.. I dont want to be "anonymous", just new to commenting and do not know how to "comment as"..just yet...).
ReplyDeleteOf the three choices I think I like the first one best. It looks good displaying things from nature on the scale.
ReplyDeleteNumber one!!!
ReplyDeleteI think you should leave them bare and enjoy the look of the scales. There is a lot going on on the mantle and something with nothing on it would be nice...I think.
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful but if I had to choose one, I would say #3 is my favorite. I like the green of the boxwood, the texture and that its asymmetric.
ReplyDeleteHi Ron! Although I like all three, my vote is #2. It really shows of the beauty of the scale and the cranes!! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteNunber one!
ReplyDeleteHi Ron!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I think I would try leaving them bare. I love the scale just as it is without anything to detract from it. Sorry to complicate things!

Ron, I like the wasp nests and the globe. We have several balance scales, and it's fun to style them with different things for the different seasons. Currently I have faux apples on our scales, but I'm ready to change them out. Just haven't decided what I want to do.
ReplyDelete#1 love!
ReplyDelete#3
ReplyDeleteLOVE #3!!
ReplyDeleteAll three are really pretty....I guess if I have to pick a favorite though it would be the third one?!?!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!!!

O, I like them all...I couldn't chose a favorite if I had to...You can just change them up when you want..
ReplyDeleteI giggled when I saw this post because of a pic of vintage scales I have and I havve to find the pic to send you...you will get a kick out of it, I think. My scales aren't high class like your pretty ones but...I like them.
First of all, I LOVE YOUR HOME and you have impeccable taste!! I like number one because I think the wasp nests and cloche are too neutral. I would like to see some sea glass. The profile would be low and would not block your beautiful mirror. Maybe in a green/clear variety that would pick up on your cranes? Just wondering!!!
ReplyDeleteI like #3 the best - but they are all beautiful!

Obviously it's number 2! Just kidding, they all look good but two is hands down my fav.
ReplyDelete#3 or 1
