I have recently fallen in love with the gold-gilded art by New Orleanian Rayne Housey.
I first discovered her art at Judy at the Rink on the corner of Washington and Prytania Avenues and have since found her etsy shop.
I have added a couple pieces to my mantle in the past couple weeks, and I love them. The first features a Zula warrior, and the second is of a flambeaux carrier.

From NolaNow.com:
Rayne Housey was born and raised in New Orleans. She graduated from Tulane University in 2012, double-majoring in History and Art History and double-minoring in Architecture and Studio Art. Rayne began taking courses at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts when she was in high school. Her interests in painting, history and preservation led to her internship with Diane Killeen, a local decorative painter and historic finishes restorer.
Here are more of her masterpieces.

ReplyDeleteI think it's always nice when you can display artwork from a local artist in your home. Your home lends itself well to that sort of thing too. Those pieces fit right in!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Rayne's work! I just ordered the jazz musician's painting that you showed. I absolutely fell in love with it as soon as I saw it on your blog.
ReplyDeleteDebbie- That one will be my next purchase.
DeleteVery nice Ron! You have a good eye. I like both pictures on your mantel- the one looks like gold foil in the background! Have a great weekend!
