Happy Lenten Season, y’all.

The Mardi Gras season ended at midnight, and the Lenten season is upon us. The clean-up in this City has begun.

APTOPIX Carnival Mardi Gras

For the next 40 days, I hope to get healthier. The left over king cake has already made it into the garbage can.

Today my plan is to pick up the purple, green, and gold and put up some green for St. Patty’s Day {March 17}.

I see many of my friends are giving up facebook for Lent. What are you “going without” or what are you doing this Lenten season?

Happy Lent, y’all!

  1. That's a freakish amount of garbage isn't it! Our bakery was stuffed with people buying pazki's yesterday and there were king cakes too. Hopefully now your street will be calm and back to normal!

  2. Good morning, Ron. On this Ash Wednesday, I am fasting from sunrise to sunset. I'm also hoping to follow the theme of moderation that was expressed in the Upper Room devotional this morning. Moderation in all areas will be an improvement for me! I'm also determined to work in some extra time for reading, something that has been seriously lacking recently.

  3. I'm giving up stuff for lent...literally trying to clean out a draw, a closet or a cabinet a day. Last year I made it about 10 days. Hoping to do better this year. It's a great feeling to purge and donating it blesses someone else.

  4. I'm not giving up Facebook--that's for sure. May be trying to go to daily Mass a few days a week. Going to put some extra exercise in my daily routine besides going to Koko. I'm with paperjunk-lc, I really need to purge my drawers and closets and donate stuff to the needy. I think I'll start with the coat closet. I have so many coats that the less fortunate could use. Going to do that tomorrow. Have a great afternoon and evening! xoxo

  5. Wow! I feel sorry for the people that have to clean all that mess up! I'm bad. I don't give up anything for Lent. I never have. Guess it's just how I was raised. I know a lot of people do though. I think to give up the internet for the day would be the hardest for me! I've already changed my eating habits since my last physical in January and am giving up junk food. That's been a hard one. Does that count? LOL!

  7. Hi Ron! Wow! Now that's a clean up job! You've had so many wonderful Mardi Gras things. You must have some great places to store all of your stuff. Thanks for popping in to see my cows! I know, they would look gorgeous on the toile tea towel. I already had these posts scheduled so when my week is over I'll post about my win and I may have to poke my cows on it! ;)
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia;)

  9. The folks that clean up deserve an award ~ what an incredible mess! I thought about giving up sugar but that would set me up to fail. I am going to eat healthier and walk more. I want to avoid junk food (drive thru's) and get things in order around here.

I emailed about my 2 weeks of packing/moving/unpacking I'm helping with. Perhaps I will be able to catch up next week!

  10. Meat. No meat to eat. What a feat.
Fish? Perhaps on Fridays. Does that include shrimp and other seafood? Where are the rules?
Best trash photo I've seen in a long time!
