With the changing of the seasons, J & I recently decorated our home in the spirit of Halloween. Here’s a picture of how the front facade looks this season:
I used large spiders that I picked up in a number of Halloween stores around New Orleans. The creepy arthropods look as if they are walking on the walls. If I must say so, they make a great show from the street.
Over each door, I fastened a wire branch ribbon sprayed black and inserted the flame lights, chain, a crow, and a couple spiders. The am so happy with the flame lights that I found at Lowe’s as they look so good at night.
On each door, I hung a Bevolo-inspired gas lantern. Each were actually made for Bevolo {more on that later…LONG story! I had to have them.}. If I can’t have the real thing, a faux gas lantern looks right at home.
Real pumpkins surround the porch urns.
My favorite oyster shell wreath was donned in Halloween delight too. A Raz “BOO” sign and two crows compliment the wreath’s seasonal spirit.
Tiny orange lights and a terra cotta pumpkin (picked up at Boxwoods in Atlanta years ago) fill the front garden.
This year, I sprayed a grapevine wreath in flat black paint and added flame lights to the balcony railing. It really looks eerie at night.
All in all, I am happy with this year’s facade. I am ready to greet our trick-or-treaters later this month.

SPOOKtacular facade, y’all!
The facade is really "SPOOKtacular"! Those spiders are really creepy! I'd love to see a night pic of it. Looking forward to seeing the inside now. Have a great day! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSPOOKTACULAR indeed...love it!!
ReplyDeleteYou have the perfect style home to decorate for Halloween since your home is old fashioned. Aren't all haunted houses old??? I love the oversized spiders everywhere and the flame lights you added.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeedy! That is very spooktacular. I think you need to put a Superman costume on and get up on that porch to complete the picture though. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented Ron. The outside of your home looks fabulous. I'm glad to see the whole front at once- I don't think I've ever seen it from a distance. Both doors are yours? It's a classic home- I do need to get your book. The spiders do make for quite a picture- you did a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteHi Ron, Your home is lovely, even with spiders!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh...mutant spiders! Your house looks boo-tiful. I really like the ravens on your oyster wreath, and the lanterns on the door. Thanks for all the inspiration.
