Walking through the historic French Quarter, you can’t escape the many musicians playing tunes with a New Orleans flair. One of the best things about the Quarter is listening to the sounds of the varied street performers.
Two of my favorites are Tanya & Dorise who often set up “shop” near Rouse’s on Royal Street.
We have three of their CDs and love each one of them. The violin and guitar are wonderful instruments used to remake some of the most popular songs of all time---What’s Going On, Killing Me Softly, Rock With You, Georgia On My Mind, & many more. Their CDs are great instrumental background music in the home.

Tanya & Dorise, y’all!
Love them! When I used to work in the Quarter, they would often be on Decatur near Joan of Arc. Definitely my favorite part of walking to my car in the afternoon. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteNice! Will definitely check them out the next time we go to NOLA! Have a great day! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I've never met anyone with my name. I will have to go find them next time I'm back home!
ReplyDeleteGreat talent. Thanks for sharing. I once encountered a street performer in the French Quarter who had crystal stemware set up with differing amount of water in each. He moved his hands across the rims and created music that sounded like a beautiful symphony. I will never forget. Love NOLA!

That's great! It must be tempting to stay a long time and listen. Nice to have the CD's so you can feel like your there listening to them live!
ReplyDeleteI earned my first check from blogging yesterday and told my husband it's going into the New Orleans fund! I hope to make a weekend of it closer to Christmas so we can go to Christmas in the Park as well as the French Quarter!
