Wooden Streetcar by Lorraine Gendron{Presents 2013}

Surprise! He did it again!

I have always loved the whimsical, wooden creations by Lorraine Gendron since moving back to New Orleans in 2008. My very first piece was the Rex float given to me by J for Christmas in ‘08 then it just snowballed from there. I showed you some of my Mardi Gras creations in an earlier post. This past year, I used most of them on my Mardi Gras mantle.

I was so happy to receive another big piece, the iconic streetcar. Everyone who is familiar with New Orleans knows the importance of the streetcar lines to the city.

I am in love with the whimsical details of the streetcar complete with passengers. The colors are vibrant, yet muted.

I am so elated that I quickly made room for it on my parlor mantle. Take a look.

I will be able to keep this piece out all year long.

Thanks again, J for the “surprise”. I always love to support our local artists.

Lorraine Gendron streetcar, y’all!

  8. I love her work. My aunt, who died from cancer 7 years ago, had an angel dressed in a white gown eating a watermelon. It is wonderful in so many ways. My mom passed it on to me. It sits in Emily's room watching over her:) We also have jazz musicians made by Gendron.

  9. Ron, this is so neat. As I have mentioned before, I loooove the streetcars of NOLA. That is a beautiful piece. I don't blame you, I would keep it out all year.
    BTW did you know there used to be streetcars all over downtown Atlanta. I can remember taking the street car on Whitehall to Davidson's on Peachtree, transfers and all.
    Happy St. Patrick's day.
