Strolling along Magazine Street… Rivers Spencer Interiors

I am so happy when new shops open on our “block” of Magazine Street. Rivers Spencer Interiors does not disappoint. Located in a great older home next to the oh-so-popular La Boulangerie Bakery, Rivers Spencer Interiors offer a fine collection of elegant home accessories.

Rivers Spence Interiors “offers a unique mix of French, Swedish and Italian antiques, as well as name brand antique reproductions, private label upholstery, and select modern pieces. Additionally, Rivers Spencer Interiors maintains an array of original oil paintings, lighting, accessories, gifts, as well as design services. Rivers Spencer Interiors is the exclusive retail outlet in New Orleans for Amy Howard Home Collection and VivVere Atelier candles, as well as our "Uptown by Rivers" full-scale private label upholstery collection. We also carry Annie glass, Lili Alessandra bedding and pillows, and Tara Shaw Maison.”
I was immediately engrossed at the elegant but not so stuffy atmosphere upon walking through the front door. The smell eminating from a lighted candle was intoxicating.

I was immediately struck by this art piece of a traditional chandelier done in a colorful, modern way. This would look at home over my sofa in the parlor. Right?

I also loved this console by Tara Shaw. How New Orleans is this?

Two ottomans with a purple stripe grabbed my attention too.

There were a number of vignettes through the shop. All were “staged” to designer prefect. The colors throughout the shop were very soothing and calm.

As you know, I love candles. I had never seen candles by VivVere. The candle scent were remarkable. I am now a fan.

The chandeliers were fab too.

Although Rivers Spencer was not in her shop, her mother was so nice and knowledgeable. She certainly helped to make J & I’s experience a great one. I will be back.

Of course I made a purchase. What’s in this bag?

  1. My guess is a candle and/or some of those starfish-shaped coral in the oyster dish! The bag is too small for the painting of the chandelier! Have a great day! :)

  2. Wow! That is one beautiful shop. I can see why you were so smitten with it. I love the serene colors throughout. Love their lamp selection too. I've never heard of that brand of candle before. I can only imagine how great they smell. I do enjoy a good candle. Maybe one day I'll get the opportunity to visit your great city. It looks like there is a lot to do and see.
