Get it? I transformed a vintage sewing machine base.
Back in September, I shared a purchase with you from Luckett’s Store that I purchased online. I love this large, galvanized tray with rope handles.

I have used it on my Parlor coffee table/bench.
I have used it on my kitchen island.
Then, I had a voila moment. I had an antique sewing machine base that I was not using because the top was not what I liked. I always thought I would get a piece of carerra marble to add to the top, but somehow that never happened. I decided to use the tray as the top as it is the perfect size.
I simply drilled 4 small holes in the bottom of the tray (hardly noticeable) and inserted 4 flat screws through the tray and holes in the base to secure it tightly.
I think it looks great alongside of my kitchen island. It gives added store space for my vintage scale topped with a bowl of bananas, cookbooks, coasters, bowls, and an oyster spoon rest.

Luckett’s Tray transformation, y’all!
The tray on the sewing machine stand is perfect! I'm a huge fan of metal trays and the rope handles are a nice touch. I love all the things you gathered together, I especially love that scale. I have to tell you, you have made me see oyster shells in a whole new light. I'm definitely going to bring home a bucketful this year when we go to the beach. Have a great day Ron.

'repurposing' with panache!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I have an antique sewing machine base, too, that I have never done anything with--mine has no top on it. Great idea--I guess I'll have to look for something to put on top of it and make it useful! Have a great day! <3
ReplyDeleteGreat tray and a great idea to attach it to the sewing machine base. I really like your collection of "kitchen things" in the tray, and how nice to have a little extra island space.
ReplyDeleteWell, How COOL is that? Is it even cool to say cool anymore? Anyway-I love it! I think it is just perfect and so usable, too! Happy Thursday, Ron- xo Diana
