It was so dreary today in New Orleans that it looks like these photos were taken close to dusk, but they were actually snapped around 3:00 PM in the afternoon. I’ll take some better ones on a prettier day, but I always like to start my seasonal tours with my front facade.
I finally felt well enough to attempt my decorations outside this weekend. Finally! Thanks again for your thoughts, prayers, and comments.
The facade is now awash in purple, green, and gold.
Large oversized comedy and tragedy masks sit atop each door bordered in purple, green, and gold metallic garland. Each garland contains strands of Mardi Gras colored LED lights. I found these great lights at Sam’s last season.
Hanging in each door is a regal crown designed by Melissa Henry of Show Me The Door. I love her design!
My handmade oyster shell grapevine wreath is bedecked in purple, green, and gold garland, ribbon, and large plumes.
Flags hang prominently in various spots on the porch.
Four Mardi Gras bunting banners line the top balcony.
Mini bunting banners top each upstairs window.
A large grapevine wreath filled with Mardi Gras colored LED lights hangs on the center wall upstairs in front of more purple, green, and gold fabric.
The front garden is filled with mini LED lights in the colors of the season.
Have I told you how much I heart Mardi Gras?

ReplyDeleteWhat I love about Mardi Gras is that you can dive right in after Christmas. It keeps those post-Christmas blues away! My parents are looking for a vacation home Uptown...I told her, "you can be uptownacorn's neighbor and enjoy his decorations!" haha. Beautiful job. :)
ReplyDeleteFun stuff! My favorite is the oyster shells on the grapevine wreath! Too brilliant

ReplyDeletePS I just sent your blog link to my cousin. She lived in New Orleans for years until Katrina took her home and everything with it. She still goes back to visit a lot - in fact, I think she was there last week! Anyway, I am sure she will love your decorations and posts about Mardi Gras! Hugs, Leena
