I love a great wrapped gift. I am one of those traditional folks who appreciate the time and effort that goes into a great, wrapped present. Call me old-fashioned, but I detest a gift in a gift bag. Is it just me? I beg to differ.
I was lucky to find this year’s wrap at the New Orleans Preservation Resource Center’s shoppe on Royal Street in the French Quarter. This year’s paper is by Cakata Artisinal Wraps and features the beloved crustaceans of the good ole South, crabs and shrimp.
The colors, red and ivory, blend perfectly with the spirited colors of my holiday decor. A brown ribbon adds elegance to the wrapping paper.
The tags given by BFFS J & M work perfectly with the paper.
I adore how the packages look on a couple antique chairs and in front of the parlor fireplace.
Last year’s gift wrap was a red and white faux bois purchased at Scriptura. Sadly, they did not stock it this season.

It’s a wrap, y’all!
Ron: I certainly agree--much prefer at wrapped gift over gift bags! I just love that wrapping paper and the brown tulle looking ribbon just sets it off to perfection! Luv ya, Beth
ReplyDeleteI'm getting ready to post with some of my wrapped packages. I worked a men's wear store in Alexandria when I was in high school. I learned all the right ways to wrap. Makes such a difference. When my girls were young they always took pretty packages to parties. No bag wraps for us, only in a pinch.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Ron, on a wrapped gift. I still have lots to wrap--I guess I'll do that today! Love the gift wrap that you used this year! Have a wonderful Sunday! <3
ReplyDeleteI love the paper, Ron. I like a beautifully wrapped present, too...stuck INTO a gift bag!;>) Your packages look great! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! --I'm not a fan of gift bags either.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love this paper! I just finished peeling shrimp for a luncheon tomorrow, so I'm in a crustacean state of mind!
ReplyDeleteI love to see beautifully wrapped gifts, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at any gift in a bag...especially if it's a wine bag. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the paper you chose, though, and the brown ribbon..so unexpected and chic.

I am a gift bag user (sorry) but I have a friend who hates gift bags so I always wrap her gifts and I find I'm getting back to enjoying the look of the wrapped gifts again. That is some gorgeous paper and the ribbon is perfect with it. Now where did I put my tape!
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda
I do love that wrapping paper you used. I think it's nice to take the time to make the gift extra pretty. I've done that (as best as possible) with my gifts this year too. Keeping colors to match my tree. However, I do have some wrapped in gift bags because of the odd shape and must admit they are so much easier to wrap. I think they can be dressed up pretty too if the bag is tasteful and has fluffy tissue paper spilling out and a nice tag. It reminds me of how a fine boutique sends your purchases home which I love !
ReplyDeleteI LOVE you wrapping paper! So artful and special because it's regional too!
ReplyDeleteso fun! i hate when i can't find a proper box to fit something in, and i end up having to use a bag! we have a store called paper skyscraper in charlotte that has the most fun wrapping paper to choose from - for any occasion! :)
ReplyDeleteRon, your wrapping paper is so pretty. I love a pretty gift, as well. There are so many ways to embellish them and give them a little flair. It's all in the presentation.
ReplyDeleteOh I LOOOOOVE that wrapping paper!
ReplyDeleteRon, The wrapping paper is wonderful! I also dislike bags and the paper must always match my decor.
