I am again elated to be a featured blogger at Coastal Charm. My post, Decking the Halls…Front Facade, was the 3rd most viewed link last week during her link party. Third place! I’ll take the honor. Be sure to check out Linda’s blog, Coastal Charm.
Decking the tree is always such a fun time for me and J. We work so well together getting the ornaments out and onto the tree. Many ornaments have their own stories and remind us of the places we’ve been in our 14 year history (more on that later).
Earlier this year I commissioned Debbie of local (around the block) dk clay to make a couple dozen oyster shell ornaments for my parlor tree. They turned out even better than I had instructed. You know when you deal with a true artist, he/she will always come up with their own spin on things. You never know just quite what you’ll get.
My instructions were quite simple. I asked for oyster shell ornaments (a shell with a tiny hole in it for hanging). I wanted them to look classy, so that the tree did not become too Cajuny (Is that a word?).
And I think Debbie delivered. I love how she used the silver paint on the edges before she fired them. The silvered edges give just the right amount of seasonal class.
I simply used thin red cording to hang them on the parlor tree. The ornaments work extremely well with my mercury glass acorns, pomegranates, and silvery branches.
The custom-made clay ornament creations are a great addition to my seasonal Christmas decor.
