I have loved reading my many facebook friend’s posts of thankfulness over the last couple weeks as friends count down the days to Thanksgiving. So, I began thinking of the things I was most thankful for.
I am most thankful for…
J, my partner of over 14 years
His patience and thoughtfulness are appreciated daily. I am not always the easiest person to live with (cough, cough), but he amazes me to this day.
My family
My close-knit family is a reality-show waiting to happen. Talking loud, sharing stories, and making jokes is always our way. There is never a dull moment.
My friends
Near & far, true friends are great to have. They say “friends make the world go round”, and I believe the great ones do.
Good health
I could stand to lose 10 or so pounds, exercise more, and eat less Cheese-Its, but I have been blessed with good genes. Thanks mom and dad! This sums it up best.
Creativeness
Whether it home decorating, creating a wreath or arrangement, or planting my landscape, I have always been a creative individual. I see the beauty in many things and have an eye for style.
My job
Being a teacher is a job that in itself brings much reward. I can certainly get on the negativity bandwagon at times, but I am happy to teach where I do.
My home on Perrier
Living Uptown is like a slice of heaven for me. Surrounded by great restaurants, bars, and shops, I am lucky to walk to many establishments. Lined with great oaks, the neighborhood is envied by many. My home is comfortable and always warm and welcoming.
My city
New Orleans is a great place to reside. I am fortunate to call it home. Audubon Park, the street cars, French Quarter, and more create the ambience and distinct feel of this magical city.
Grand Isle
As a young boy spending weeks and weeks in this tiny fishing town, I am lucky that I still have the opportunity at 44 to spend many days beach side. I am not much of a fisherman, but I adore my beach family.
Of course, there are many more things I am thankful for. This list is certainly not all-inclusive, but these things mean the most to me right now.
What are YOU most thankful for? Please comment & share.

Giving thanks, y’all!
lovely post----have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteYou have much to be thankful for! Helen could never count so many smiling faces in her personal blessings (because Helen hates smiling faces - she always wonders what they are up to. No good, that's what.) You have a lovely home and a wonderful outlook (Helen has her eye on you for that). Have a great Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for many things--especially my family. You, like me, are truly blessed, Ron. I'm thankful that your post today reminds me of all I have to be thankful for--especially enjoying my coffee in my oyster mug as I read your blog! Have a great Thanksgiving, and give all the fam my love! <3
ReplyDeleteand we are all thankful for YOU!
ReplyDeleteLove, J
What a lovely post, Ron! Of course, I am thankful for the everyday things in life, that we sometimes take for granted...a home, food, family, great friends, and good health! With so many people struggling right now, it's the simple things that I am thankful for. And...I'm thankful to have 'met' you! Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!
ReplyDeleteRon this is a great post! I've been doing Gratitude posts daily on my blog and it has really made me think about things!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading this sweet post! You know what I'm thankful for? People who are thankful!
ReplyDeleteDearest Ron,
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for many of the same things you are. I'm blessed with a wonderfully quirky family as well and this Thanksgiving finds two members very ill with cancer. So I believe even more to be thankful for everyday and enjoy the small gifts from the sunshine in the AM, starry nites, great coffee in a favorite mug, a cocktail always in the most beautiful glass, but most of all the love of family. Many people don't have that blessing.
Enjoy your day, God bless you and your loved ones,
Ann
P.S. I thankful for finding your beautiful blog, you are truly a gifted man. I'll be visiting you very very often.
Oh, one more thing.......I checked out your site The Acorn at Wisteria Hill. Wow what beautiful pieces you create. I love dabbling with flower arranging and I'll be studying your arrangements.
Ron, that was a beautiful post. Reading what others are thankful for is a great reminder for all of us to appreciate the people and things in our lives. Thanks for sharing and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

AW, Ron! You have lots to be thankful for. Your family sounds a lot like my own...a side show circus waiting for a TV crew to find them! I am a little worried though. There were at least 3 pictures of you without a cocktail in your hand!!! Love the picture of your house-it is gorgeous! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Ron! Just found your blog from Wow Us Wednesday! What a great post, sure makes you stop and think! My family is precious to me too, I'm a follower now and I'll be back for more of your posts. Love the pictures of your home, just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving!

No lie, I'm eating Cheese-Its and drinking wine while I read this. Heaven - until you pointed out otherwise! Dang it!
ReplyDeleteOther than that, I agree that we need to be thankful for goodness and the basics in life. Living on the Gulf Coast is a slice of heaven that I love and am thankful for daily.
Woo -Hoo to Cheese-Its, family, beaches, wine and love!
Hi there - I love this post. I've just found you through the linky party and just needed to comment!! It is so true to value the people in our lives and the gifts we've been given. We sadly don't celebrate thanksgiving in the UK but I love the idea of it. I try to live by the Project Gratitude 365 - where you find things each day to be thankful for and it truly does change your outlook and values in life!! Thanks for sharing, J9 x
ReplyDeleteI am thankful to have another beautiful website to shop....wisteria hill here i come! Happy Thanksgiving!
