Remember yesterday’s post on the Magazine Street Blues Festival? You know I could not leave with one but two carnival flowers by art vendor Carnival Sculpture.
I could not wait to get them home as I knew exactly where they would go. I hung each on the large post in the open area at the rear of the house. I converted the large post into a message center simply with chalkboard paint.
I purchased the large red bloom and a smaller green one. I am ordering another larger yellow one with leaves to add to an open space atop the bar in the kitchen.
I have wanted one of these large blooms since dining at the home of Bryan Batt (of Mad Men and Hazelnut fame) and Tom Cianfichi. Bryan has a beautiful one that fell off a parade float years ago. It hung prominently in his dining room, and I was in love with it as soon as I saw it. You see, if you love Mardi Gras like I do, these blooms adorn the fancier floats in the great traditional parades.
Here is Bryan Batt’s one hanging his his former dining room:
Here are my two hanging on the chalkboard post:
Brian Bush, the artist, creates wonderful paper sculptures. You can check out his amazing work on his facebook page: click HERE!
I love his flowers, but this poboy is amazing too!

I knew you would buy a green and a red one! Those are amazing, and that poboy looks good enough to eat! I'm assuming that the Christmas decorations are coming along--can't wait to see them! Have a great day! :)
