It has finally cooled off here in New Orleans(for now), and I start to crave what I think are the foods of the cooler weather months.
I love a grilled cheese sandwich and a side of soup as dinner on a cool evening.
Sunday night, I prepared grilled cheese sandwiches for J & I. I love to use sour dough bread (slightly toasted) and gruyere cheese. I am addicted to gruyere! J likes his slathered with mustard. I use a Dijon brown mustard. I prefer mine with no condiments.
I simply butter each side of the breads after slightly toasting each and then place the sandwich in the oven on 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Before I take the sandwiches out of the oven, I turn on the broiler on high, crack open the oven door, and watch the sandwich broil for a minute or two.
J likes his sandwich sliced; I prefer mine whole. Differences make the world go round. LOL!
J picked up a homemade shrimp and corn soup from one of our local lil supermarkets, Zara’s. The soup is delicious. How do you like my oyster shell handled soup bowls? I had them custom made for me by dk clay earlier this year. Click HERE for dk clay!
Sunday night dinners take place at the breakfast table. All I can say is YUM!
Grilled cheese and shrimp & corn soup are a perfect cool weather “feast”.
I am also thinking and praying for all of you affected by Hurricane Sandy. I know first hand how you are feeling and what you are going through. Prayers your way!
Grilled cheese, y’all!

The shrimp and corn soup sounds delicious in the oyster mugs.. and now I HAVE to find some gruyere to make a grilled cheese. Yum! For some reason gruyere is difficult to find around here. They don't seem to sell it at WalMart..LOL Maybe Publix will have some.
