Strolling Along Magazine… The Shops at 2011 Magazine

A week ago, J & I attempted to visit one of our favorite Magazine Street haunts, Agora Galleries. To our dismay, the building was cleared and for lease signs littered the facade. We were bummed. It has been one of our favorite Magazine Street destinations since moving to NOLA.
Agora Galleries was a fun shopping experience and consisted of a vast collection of vendors specializing great items for the home- art, lighting, accessories, notions, jewelry, antiques, and much more.

When I came home, I quickly researched Agora Galleries online. I could not find anything immediately giving any indication of a reason why it had closed. Upon a search on facebook, I discovered that Agora Galleries had indeed moved further down Magazine Street and had been renamed The Shops at 2011 Magazine. It is in a new location and under new management.

This week, I stopped by for a few minutes to see what was happening within the walls of 2011 Magazine. I am happy to report that I recognize several familiar “faces” from Agora Galleries.
One of my favorite vendors, The Porch, is again offering many vintage finds. I love this vendor.

There was some construction still in progress with new vendors moving in and setting up daily. There will even be upstairs vendors in the near future. I cannot wait to see the progress. I will check in very often to check on additional vendors.

  4. I have been following your blog since I discovered it last year from Dixie Delights. Thoroughly enjoy it! Love your southern style, taste and hospitality. My husband and I will be in town mid-month to watch our two youngest daughters play soccer against Nicholls State Univ. We will have just 48 hours to explore/dine/shop. Given our tight time frame - can you suggest a list of must see/must do? Our daughters are staying at Maison St. Charles Hotel. It looks OK and seems to be very near a trolley line. We have reservation there, too, but unsure if it's the best place for us parents? I look forward to hearing from you!

  6. I think it's so sad when you go to a store and those "closed" signs are posted all over the door but yours has a happy ending. So glad they just moved down the street. Sounds like a fabulous and fun place to shop. :)

  7. It's so nice that the shop hadn't closed, but just moved. I hate to see locally owned shops closing due to lack of business. One of my favorite shops near us just closed after 25 years.
Thanks for sharing and supporting so many neat places to shop in New Orleans. :)

  9. Is Josh Broussard still involved? He was always so pleasant to deal with.
