Our neighborhood prepares...Hurricane Isaac

This blog was originally scheduled for yesterday, but my plans kinda changed due to Isaac and moving to the Quarter to ride out the storm at the Maison Dupuy. It isn't always easy blogging during a storm.

It is still raining cats and dogs. The winds are still very strong. We remain glued to WWL-TV, Louisiana's News Leader.

WWL-TV's website: Click Here!

I thought it was interesting to show you how my neighbors prepared their homes for the wrath (and I do mean wrath) of the effects of Hurricane Isaac.

Closing shutters...

Boarding up...

Parking cars on the "neutral ground"...

Hopefully on tomorrow's blog, I'll show you the neighborhood & my yard after Isaac.... stay tuned! We are planning at this time to go back Uptown at some point today.

Well prepared, y'all!

    1. Rainfall totals are through the roof....oops, maybe not a good analogy! For some folks, that is literal. Thanks for your thoughts. xo

  3. Ron, thank you SO much for posting the link to WWL-TV. Their site is wonderful. I am in central MS and follow your blog. I love every thing New Orleans and get a peek of it every day through your blog. Glad you and J are safe and pray your home will be totally unharmed from the effects of Isaac. Also, hoping Camp Crisco in Grand Isle didn't take too bad of a hit. Isaac has sure been a wake up call for Plaquemines and maybe something can be done to improve their levy system. Love, love, love your blog. Thanks again from Diane Brandon, MS.

    1. Thanks, Diane. We are going check on the house later today. We understand that the electricity is still out, so we may stay another night at the hotel. Camp Crisco made it unscathed too.

  7. Ron....what a great post for those of us who don't live in huricane prone areas....I knew those shutters were called huricane shutters, but I honestly thought that wood was used to board up windows to protect from storms...... So glad you are safe....
