Did you all think I would leave the inside of the dry bar doors plain? No way, Jose’!
After speaking with a couple folks including BFF Debi of Chic Chateau, it was decided to line the inside of the doors in cork and border in rope.
The look is also very coastal chic if I do say so myself. So, I headed to my local Wally World (Walmart) yet again in search of cork and rope cording. I found square cork tiles in the arts and crafts department and rope in the hardware department. Both were very inexpensive. I was really lucky that the cork square was a perfect size for the inset panels of the inside doors of the armoire. I simply had to cut some of the length to fit the smaller panels at the top and bottom with a utility knife. For the middle panels, I used two square panels and an inch of another cork square. Each square was secured with several squares of adhesive tape.
The rope was simply positioned around the cork boards using only lines of hot glue.
I think it turned out fantastic. For now, I pinned various photographs of friends drinking their cocktails. I may also pin various bar menus and/or cocktail napkins from some of my favorite local jaunts. The tacks are gold fleur de lis and bees from Ballard Designs. I’ve had these for years but are still available.
While at Walmart, I also picked up three more water hyacinth baskets to further organize my collections bottle stoppers, spreaders, and antler-handled barware. Doesn’t that look better organized?
One of my followers, Dotti, mom of Dixie Delights, wanted to know about the container in the left corner that I failed to mention in the Raising the Bar {the Reveal} blog. The container is actually a large bottle filled with olives and oils. I purchased this many years ago from Hill Street Warehouse in Atlanta. I think it is a perfect addition to the bar.
And Eric, I added a bottle of Patron, my favorite tequila! Ole’!
What do you think?
