In this month’s issue of one of my favorite publications, Coastal Living, one of my favorite beach locales was featured as #1 of America’s Happiest Seaside Towns. Their pick: Kiawah Island, South Carolina!
J & I traveled to Kiawah with a group of Atlanta friends for New Year’s Eve in 2008 and fell in love with the East Coast charm of the island and beach. From shopping and eating at Freshfields Village, to drinking and brunch at The Sanctuary Hotel, to touring the island itself, Kiawah is such a precious coastal island.
The article in Coastal Living states: “If heaven had a zip code, it would be 29455. This exquisite barrier island is home to 10 miles of unspoiled fine-sand beach; wild-growing palmetto, oak, and magnolia trees. With small-town charm and proximity to the gracious urbanity of Charleston, Kiawah makes the ideal possible: a vacation-like lifestyle with easy access to commerce and culture.”
Here are some of my memories:
I visited during the winter, but I would love to return during the summer to experience this charming island during my favorite season. Cheers, BFFs Casey & Tom for organizing our trip several years ago. Time to go back! SNAP to it!
Kiawah Island, y’all!
I've never been there, but I've read about Kiawah Island, and it truly sounds lovely. Don't you just love the beach in the winter time?!! Have a safe and great trip to Bradenton. :)
