Drink Up…Summer Pickle Martini

On Wednesday night, I had dinner with friends at Patois, an Uptown restaurant. One of the cocktails offered on their drinks menu was a Pickled Patois Martini- gin and house made semi-sweet pickle juice served in a chilled martini glass and garnished with a pickle. Though I did not order it as it came with gin, a couple other friends ordered it and drank it up effortlessly. I sampled it and thought, Wow! This might be a great fresh, summer cocktail when mixed with vodka, of course.

Since it’s usually happy hour at our home on most evenings, J & I set out to create and sample our own version of a pickle-style martini. It certainly was not hard.

The ingredients included:

  • Ketel One vodka (chilled)
  • Bread & Butter pickles and juice (You can choose whatever type of pickle you prefer)
  • Water

J added 4 ounces of vodka and water to a chilled martini shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake the shaker for a minute or so and pour into a chilled martini glass. Add the pickle juice to your own taste. Add a pickle and garnish with another on the rim.

I cannot tell you how fresh and summery this drink tastes. Try it for yourself.

I keep thinking how this cocktail might taste with cucumbers. Hmmmm? I may try that one next….Stay tuned!

  2. :) Have you ever tried Tito's vodka? I went to a vodka seminar a while back, and that was one we sampled--really liked it. I liked Pearl, too. If you haven't tried either, you might want to venture from your Ketel One and try it! :)

    1. I have. Mom and Aunt Gail drink Tito's on Grand Isle with their sour apple crystal light. LOL.

  4. Sounds delish (with vodka!). I love cucumber martinis -- mussle a little and garnish with slices.

I am soooo ready for school to be out -- the kids at Sophie Wright have been taking up all the parking spaces on our side street!

  5. Now that certainly sounds interesting! How many did you have to try before you got the right amount of pickle juice? :)
