How does his Garden Grow?

It is finally springtime here in NOLA, and the temperatures remain above 70 degrees daily.

J has been itching to plant his veggies and herbs, so this past weekend we shopped at local nurseries for plantings.

Our galvanized troughs arrived last week, I filled with soil, and J planted away.

In one trough, he designed herbs. In the other, he planted vegetables.

In the herb trough, J planted rosemary, basil, mint, oregano, and thyme.

I love the herb markers I picked up at The Plant Gallery.

Yes! He did get his fingers dirty. LOL!

Now, I hope he keeps them up. J, are you listening?

  1. I love fresh herbs to cook with. I'm going to have to plant some. I sure hope that trough is big enough for all those vegetables, though! I'm sure J will treat those herbs and vegetables with tender, loving care! Have a great day! xoxo

  3. 70 degree weather - ahh so nice! We are getting up in the 60s today so I really can't complain. Love the herb garden. I did one a few years ago and loved cooking with the herbs. I remember the basil was growing faster than I could cook with it. Enjoy!

  4. You and J have given me the inspiration I needed for a trough shaped ceramic planter the previous owners left at our house! I WAS going to put it out in the garage sale next month but not now! I will be asking Mr. B to take it to the back deck and I am planting herbs in it!! Right by the BBQ and the door to the kitchen! How perfect! Pinning so I don't forget!!

  6. I really love the idea of using troughs to plant a garden in. They look so pretty with the greenery in them now. Love your herb markers too. I'm amazed how much y'all were able to fit in those. It's going to be a nice summer for you guys.

  9. Your tubs look so nice with your veggies and herbs in them. Won't be long until you will be having veggies from your garden. There is nothing like a fresh home grown tomato sandwich. Like your markers. I have 4 tomato plants in all different kinds, but need to go and get some other veggies.
    Happy Spring.

  10. The tubs really look nice now that something is planted in them. We have planted three rows of potatoes and one row of onions. It is just a bit early to plant tomatoes here yet.
